What is Intrastat?
Intrastat is an EU statistical system created in 1993 to collect detailed data on the trade of goods between Member States. With the elimination of internal customs borders, this declaration replaced the former customs filings for statistical purposes. In Portugal, INE manages this data collection.
Entities conducting intra-community operations above INE thresholds must submit Intrastat declarations including commodity codes, origin/destination countries, transaction values and quantities.
