European programme that supports Madeira and Azores by offsetting geographic isolation through customs exemptions and financial aid.

POSEIMA is an EU programme designed to support the Outermost Regions (Madeira and Azores) by offsetting the disadvantages of geographic isolation. Created in 1991, it ensures essential goods reach the islands at accessible prices while protecting local production.

What is the REA?

The Specific Supply Arrangement (REA) is a POSEIMA modality enabling certain goods to benefit from customs duty exemption (from third countries) or financial aid (from within the EU).

How it works

Operators must register and present certificates: Exemption, Aid, Export, or Dispatch — depending on the operation.

Why it matters

Significant cost reduction, greater competitiveness and supply security for businesses operating in the autonomous regions.
